Our Journey And How We Began

The story begins all the way back in 1977, when Dr. David Knowles founded Pinewood Chiropractic. Originally, the clinic was located in the Pinewood Shopping Village, hence the name. It wasn’t long until Dr. David realised he needed something more customised and in 1982, he purpose built what you see today as a standalone Chiropractic clinic with an onsite X-ray machine facilitating same day treatments and adjustments.

In 1983, Dr. David made a move up to Queensland and he passed on the practice to Dr. Peter Glynn, who established and strengthened Pinewood Chiropractic’s reputation over the next 25 years.

Fast forward to the new millennium and after a long and respected career, Dr. Peter Glynn decided it was time to hang up the boots. Through an acquaintance of the two Doctors, Dr. Matthew Panetta heard about Pinewood Chiropractic being available and the decision was easy for him.

In 2008, Dr. Matt took charge and has been the principal Chiropractor and owner ever since, preserving the established values set before him. One of the first changes Dr. Matt carried out was to install a new modernised and safer X-Ray machine, as the old, outdated one was decommissioned prior to him joining. This instantly improved the clinic's capabilities, enabling same day, first visitation treatments once again. In 2011, Dr. Matt reinvested back into the clinic, significantly enhancing diagnostic capabilities. With digital technologies implemented into the X-Ray facility, this now allows submillimetre precision analysis and has established Pinewood Chiropractic as a leading provider of Chiropractic care in all of Melbourne.

Our principal chiropractor, Dr. Matthew Panetta, has been practising for over 20 years and is known for his immense biomechanical understanding and approach. Dr. Matt's focus for the clinic is simple: Addressing every patient's primary problem as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Accompanying Dr. Matt is Dr. Jefferies Vecranges, whose extensive background in exercise science and myotherapy complements his chiropractic expertise. Dr. Jeff focuses on achieving optimal results with the Gonstead system and is passionate about helping people lead active lives without dealing with pain. His experience with complex cases and his involvement in volunteer services make him a key part of the team.

Then there is Dr. Joash Boey, who joined Pinewood Chiropractic in 2023, adding an extra layer of knowledge and experience to the team. Dr. Joash brings a fresh perspective to the clinic, having trained under some of the most famous Gonstead practitioners in the world.

Now in 2024/25 we have Dr. Sandy Wan and Dr. Jarrett Doss. Both are exceptional young talents, having their own unique speciality while still mastering the basics of chiropractic. Looking forward, we remain focused on assisting patients that are seeking help where our expertise can aid them.
